The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.
Open water diver course consists of three parts: knowledge development, 2 confined water sessions and 4 open water dives. It usually takes four days.
Introduction into the course with your personal instructor, paperwork, you get your study materials: PADI book, PADI videos (bring your USB if possible so that you can watch videos back at your resort), or you can watch videos on our laptop in our office. You will try your equipment to fit your sizes. Later same day you ideally start with first confined water sessions, where you will be showed how the equipment works and start drilling basic skills that you need for recreational diving.
After reading and watching first three chapters you meet up with instructor and go through question reviews that are in the book at the end of each chapter, if you understand everything from the diving theory. Later you go again to confined water for more practice and to try what you have just learned.
Your first two open water dives. At the beginning of each dive you will practice skills learned in the confined water sessions and the rest of the time you should enjoy your dive if you feel comfortable. Time schedule of the dive trips depends on high/low tides and conditions on the sea and will be announced day before.
Your third and fourth dive where you should already be self-sustained and enjoy full dives under supervision of your instructor, who is nearby all the time and watching you closely. Final theory test and certification is final part of the course.
Kids 10 to 14 years old can get Jr. Open Water Diver certification.
