It is a very relaxing private day trip by traditional Thai longtail boat full of swimming and enjoyment on tiny beaches. It is a perfect escape destination.
Koh Hong Islands is a group of small islands with hidden beaches and lagoons. They are known for their impressive limestone formations and for that, they are certainly one of the most beautiful places in Thailand. But not only the limestone cliffs are impressive, also the fine white powdered sand beaches on some islands are really awesome. During the trip you visit 4 islands: Koh Hong, Koh Lao Lading, Koh Pak Bia and Koh Nok.
Hong Island (in translation Room Island) is famous for its beautiful white powdered sand beach with a bay for swimming and snorkeling. One of the highlights on the island is the Hong Lagoon, which can only be reached by boat entering a narrow rock-opening. You have small restaurant, beach bar and restrooms on the island. There is newly opened platform with 360° view point. It is 10mins hike with 419 stairs but totally worth it. Stunning views of the islands around, rock formations and sea. There is also 15 minutes long island hike in the tropical nature copying the limestone rocks starting and finishing at the beachside.
Lao Lading Island has tiny beach with high palm trees and small bay for swimming and snorkeling. There is also beach bar with food and snacks and restroom area on the island.
Pak Bia are actually two islands just next to each other with beautiful small white sand beaches and with an opportunity to see monkeys there.
Koh Nok is single island with nice beach and another viewpoint – you can reach the top in 15 minutes but it is not that easily accessible like the viewpoint at Hong Island – it is recommended to take your shoes with you as there are no stairs, the way up goes through the nature and rocks, so some people skip it and enjoy the beautiful beach with almost no people.
This trip is not meant to be mainly as a snorkeling trip – snorkeling takes only small part of the trip and the bottom is mostly sandy with limited amount of corals and smaller fish. We recommend to go to Koh Hongs Islands early in the morning before all the crowds from Krabi or Phuket come to the area.
Departure is from any hotel or resort in Koh Yao Yai (can be organised also from Koh Yao Noi) and the local driver will take you to the pier where you will jump on the longtail boat. The trip takes usually about 5 – 6 hours, but that really depends on you how long you would like to stay. You can discuss the length of stops on each island with your private captain. There is complimentary fresh fruit, lunch box with traditional Thai fried rice and water supply for entire trip onboard.
Recommended as a family trip or for romantic couples.
