Overview

Private trip

This sightseeing trip takes us to the north of Phang Nga Bay, which is a great place to take photos of dramatic sheer limestone islands. James Bond Island and Koh Panyee are just two of the more famous spots in this bay. Phang Nga Bay covers an area of 400sqkm and is home to some 100 islands, many of which could feature in The Guinness Book of Records either for their beauty or for their freakish shapes.

James Bond Island or Koh Tapu, with its famous rocky pinnacle, has been a major attraction ever since it featured in the 1974 Bond movie “The Man with The Golden Gun”.

Koh Ping Ghan is another sample of very high leaning rock that has some small caves inside.

We stop at Koh Panyee muslim floating village – whole village built out over water on stilts with a giant monolith guarding its rear. You will get a chance to spend some time in the village watching people’s ordinary life, visit the local school yard, mosque and do some shopping.

We will be cruising by mangrove forests that form interesting channels in the sea. Mangrove forests provide protection and shelter against extreme weather events, such as storm winds and floods, as well as tsunamis. They are rich in biodiversity providing a habitat for wide varieties of animal and plant species.

Lunch on Koh Panyee, national park fees and sea kayaking are included in the price.

Departure at 8am

Our local Thai driver will meet you at your resort at 8am. Please let us know your room in advance. He takes you to the northern pier to get on the traditional longtail boat with Thai boat captain who speaks some English.

Cruise to Phang Nga Bay

You will cruise for about 45 minutes to get to amazing Phang Nga bay with tens of smaller or bigger islands. It used be mountains during the ice age before melting and creating this massive formations. Just seeing this scenery is worth of this day trip.

James Bond Island

First stop is usually James Bond Island to avoid crowds from Phuket. You walk through the island and come to the small beach where you take famous pictures with the rock from the movie behind you.

Sea kayaking

Our favourite part is sea kayaking on this trip. Two of you jump on the kayak and local Thai will paddle through mangrove under massive rock formations. You support local eco-tourism as most of these people come from nearby sea village.

Caves

You will be able to explore Mangrove Cave, Hoi Teep Cave or Ice cream cave if the tide conditions allow it.

Koh Panyee - sea village

Final stop is usually sea village built on stilts. It is lately shown in Turkish airlines commercial. Our captain show you the restaurant where you will meet for a lunch later after the walk around the village. There is a football playground, school yard, simple houses and huts and lots of souvenir shopping. These people make living from tourism and fishing only.

Return to Koh Yao Yai

You return back to Koh Yao Yai by longtail boat after around 5,5 hours to get on the car again and drive back to your resort. It has been a long day, but visiting this area is must-see for Thailand's first time visitors.
