How to apply for Sandbox and Test&Go scheme

Conditions to enter the Sandbox scheme

  • Travelers from any country/territory. Stay in the Sandbox area for 7 days and will be able to travel in Thailand thereafter
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no less than 14 days before traveling
  • Booking for 7 days on approved SHA Extra+
  • Obtain a negative COVID-19 test result (RT-PCR), issued within 72 hours before traveling

Conditions to enter the Test&Go scheme from 1st February 2022

  • Travelers from any country/territory.
  • Stay in the Test&Go area until negative result of 2nd PCR test and will be able to travel in Thailand thereafter
  • Can travel between first and second PCR test within Sandboxes
  • Fully vaccinated with two doses against COVID-19 no less than 14 days before traveling
  • Booking for 1st and 5th night on approved SHA Extra+, where you wait for your PCR test result
  • Obtain a negative COVID-19 test result (RT-PCR), issued within 72 hours before traveling

Documents for Thai pass

  • Passport
  • Certificate of vaccination with QR codes, two doses
  • Insurance with minimum coverage of 50 000 USD
  • Paid SHA Extra+ hotel reservation confirmation
  • 2 Paid RT-PCR tests ( should be 4200 THB )

  • How to book SHA Extra+ hotel accommodation? – Book directly with SHA Extra+ hotels ( avoid websites such as Booking.com, Agoda and others ) list of approved hotels here: https://web.thailandsha.com/shaextraplus

 

  • Can I fly to Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi Sandbox via Bangkok? – No, you must fly directly to Phuket International Airport.

 

  • Can I move in sandbox areas freely? – Yes you can, but you have to stay in the sandbox area you’ve applied for in thaipass for 7 days ( not possible to move in between sandbox areas ).

 

  • Is vaccination needed for children under 12? – Not required if they are traveling with their parents.

 

  • Is a pre-departure PCR test required for children under 6 years of age? – Not required.

 

  • If you have undergone COVID not less than 14 days and not more than 3 months before your departure to Thailand. – If you pass a positive PCR test before departure, you can replace it with a certificate of passing the covid in English.

 

  • Is a negative PCR test needed before you fly back home? – Follow the rules of final destination

 

    • Is there any nightlife during the covid? – Alcohol beverages stop serving at 11 PM and bars are normally closed. Restaurant with food, massages are open even after 9 PM.

Unvaccinated travelers

    • must stay in Alternative Quarantine for 10 days
    • Thai visa if required, normally you get visa on arrival and can be prolonged 30 days extra at Phuket immigration office
    • paid AQ hotel reservation confirmation (fully paid or at least 15,000 THB / 500 USD deposit) (including the fee for 2 RT-PCR tests
    • insurance with minimum coverage of $50,000
    • choose AQ plan at https://tp.consular.go.th/en/plan and follow the registration process, upload documents
    • wait for a Thai Pass with a unique QR code

 

What happens if I get tested positive?

  • you would be taken to the hospital for medical examinations
  • if asymptomatic you enter 10 days quarantine at your SHA Extra Plus hotel
  • if symptomatic you go to the hospital for isolation and treatment
  • all medical and quarantine expenses are paid by you OR covered with your insurance, check the insurance policy
  • after 10 days you are released and allowed to travel
